Estimated offer = 55–75% of today's market melt value. The real rate depends on the shop, branch, the item and its tested purity. Try the calculator →
When you pawn or sell gold, the appraiser does three things: weighs the item, tests its karat (purity), and applies a buying rate that is a percentage of the gold's melt value — the value of the pure gold it contains. That rate is usually around 55–75% of melt, because the shop must cover its margin, the risk of price swings, and the chance a pawned item is not redeemed.
So two things drive your offer: today's gold price (which sets the melt value, shown live above) and the karat of your piece. A 21K ring is appraised higher per gram than an 18K one because it contains more gold.

Pawning is a loan you repay with interest to get the item back; selling is final and usually pays slightly more. Choose based on whether you want the piece back.
Appraisers test gold with acid or electronic testers and read any hallmark (e.g. 750 for 18K, 875 for 21K), then weigh it to calculate value.
